The Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance has seized 45 kilograms of gold during an operation conducted in the Peja Region.
Authorities blocked over 25 kilograms of gold jewelry and confiscated more than 20 kilograms of gold, as the goods did not possess the relevant documentation and did not bear the mandatory marking by the Kosovo Metrology Agency.
IQMT carried out the action in coordination with the Peja Prosecution Office, Kosovo Police and Kosovo Customs. The inspection teams verified the fulfillment of legal obligations for the trade of precious metals and checked the origin and marking of the products.
The Inspectorate announced that the lack of documentation and marking constitutes a legal violation. The institution warned that it will implement measures against economic operators who do not respect the applicable requirements.
