Kosovo is officially a state sanctioned by the European Union. After the increase in tensions in the North and the rejection of calls to calm the situation, Brussels has decided to take measures against Kosovo. The government has been informed that since June 28, the new restrictive measures have entered into force.
The European Union has told the Kosovo media that the work of the SAA bodies and the IPA funds program has already been suspended.
" We have temporarily suspended the work of the bodies of the Stabilization and Association Agreement. Kosovo will also not be invited to high-level events and bilateral visits will be suspended, except for those focused on addressing the crisis in northern Kosovo within the EU-facilitated Dialogue. The programming of funds for Kosovo within the IPA 2024 program exercise has also been put on hold ," the EU said.
Also, another measure is that Kosovo was left out of the digitization program for the Balkans. It is about a 7 billion euro project.
" The proposals presented by Kosovo within the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) have not been submitted for review to the WBIF Board on June 29-30. The Commission has notified the Kosovo authorities on June 28 ", says the response of an EU spokesperson.
He further said that the measures taken against Kosovo are temporary depending on the developments in the north, as he warned that the EU is also monitoring the fulfillment of demands from Serbia.
" These measures are temporary and fully reversible depending on the developments on the ground and the de-escalation decisions taken by Prime Minister Kurti. "The EU is also closely monitoring the fulfillment of our demands by Serbia and is ready to take measures in case of non-compliance ", he said for "Klan Kosovan".
The EU has called for an end to the conflict in the North as soon as possible and for the parties to sit down at the dialogue table.
