The 7th session for the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly has failed. In today's session, Albulena Haxhiu's candidacy for the position of Speaker of the Assembly was presented again, while 57 deputies voted in her favor, out of the 61 needed.
On behalf of LVV and Albin Kurti, deputy leader Glauk Konjufca once again proposed Haxhiu for parliamentary speaker.
"I ask you to support Ms. Haxhiu with your vote," he told the 109 deputies present in the hall.
But it seems that there is no consensus among the opposition groups to support Haxhiu's election, while the latter said in the previous session that the possibility of moving towards early elections is not ruled out.
The next session in the Kosovo Assembly will be held on Tuesday, which also marks the 8th round of constitution-making efforts.
The PDK is ready to discuss new elections starting today, said the party's leader, Memli Krasniqi.
"I have already discussed this issue. I have also proposed a possible date. And if the Vetëvendosje Movement really does not want to break the deadlock, then it is better to go to the elections," he said, after the Assembly failed to be constituted for the seventh time, since the VV candidate for speaker of parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, did not receive the necessary 61 votes.
Krasniqi said that it would be okay to meet and discuss this issue, if VV does not want to change the candidate for Speaker of the Assembly.
He said that VV cannot hold the state hostage because of a candidacy.
