The Ambassador of the United States of America in Kosovo, Jeff Hovenier, has responded to the statements of the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, calming the citizens as well. He said that the most successful military alliance is in Kosovo, referring to NATO, and according to him, it is ready to act if necessary.
The ambassador added that the US policy is clear that it wants each country to be able to make its own decisions about the alliances and organizations it will join.
Furthermore, Jeff Hovenier emphasized that he is fully aware that Kosovo has decided and wants to join NATO.
"We will do everything to support this. The USA has invested a lot of energy and committed a lot to support Kosovo and the KSF in its transition. Kosovo faces the challenge that some NATO countries do not recognize as the USA and other partners do. We want to see this change. We want to see Kosovo's future advance in NATO. Kosovo is very good with NATO in terms of values and institutions. There are problems and issues that need to be solved", said Hovenier, who added that he expects Kosovo to one day become a full member of NATO. "I want to oppose those who want to make comparisons. There are major commitments to advance the security of Kosovo", said Hovenier.
