The expert of International Relations, Sadri Ramabaja, has stated that Albania and Kosovo should unite in a federation, as protection against ongoing conflicts with Serbia.
Ramabaja made the comments through a link on Euronews Albania, where he said that the two countries should initially be united in foreign and defense policies.
He also said that a Kosovo as a multi-ethnic state cannot function normally, since 93% of the population there are Albanians.
"This should not be understood as a reaction to what Serbia is doing. To organize their nation as they want and can. In this centuries-old rivalry, we must resist and not allow Serbia to expand again, as at the time of the connection of Prizren, to the detriment of the Albanian territories.
The time has come to review the strategic compromise taken during the end of the war in Kosovo, for the creation of the second Albanian state without defining it as a state of Albanians. The determination of Kosovo as a multi-ethnic state, in a multi-ethnic Europe, would go if the opportunities for the full functionalization of this republic were created.
Although the theoretical criteria do not match, because 93% of the population of Kosovo are Albanians and the rest are minorities. There is almost no country in Europe that is as homogeneous as Kosovo. So, as self-defense, the reserve version of the Albanian Federation should be put on the table.
This variant should be done as soon as possible, because no one has stopped. The federal system of organization of states is well known. Germany is also organized on this system.
Both of these state units could retain their subjectivity to some extent, but in foreign and defense policies, in some areas, they should be united and function as a real federation. We are not talking about a Greater Albania. Notions are very important" , said Ramabaja.
