The director of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, says that Serbian criminal groups are preparing for an attack in the north of the country. He said that these groups can attack the Kosovo police for their interests in the north.
According to Hoxha, the officers are prepared to face any kind of attack.
"They may be similar groups like Banjska's group, perhaps with a smaller number than them, but they may be more professionally prepared, may be experts in certain fields that can attack the Kosovo police for the interests of them in the north of the country. Will there be any invasion, aggression from Serbia on the territory of Kosovo, this is an issue that should be discussed at other levels, but we as the police have our capacity, professionally prepared to deal with any attack by these criminal groups. While for other parts it is the responsibility of KFOR, the KSF and normally the Kosovo Police", declared Hoxha.
The latter said that the Serbian army is paving the way for terrorists who aim to destabilize Kosovo.
Hoxha also stopped at the movements of Serbian military vehicles near the border with Kosovo.
"These are Serbia's attempts to show that it is close to Kosovo's borders. There was a presence of the Serbian army during the past week. They are information and images provided by Kosovo security institutions that work around the border. We have alerted KFOR and we have been in contact with KFOR about this presence and also during the last weeks we have been in maximum preparation regarding the possibility of infiltration by criminal forces or any diversionary action of any group designated by the security institutions of Serbia", said Hoxha.
He also informed that Serbian army machines are often working around the borders of Kosovo, repairing or opening roads and that according to him this happens to create opportunities for groups like "Banjska" to penetrate more easily.
"It is a threat, but we are continuing to monitor it and we are ready to face it," declared Hoxha.
