The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, through a post on Twitter, announced a phone call he had with the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, where they discussed his position regarding the elections in the North.

Kurti has stated that the first step to calm the situation in the north is the immediate end of violence against security institutions and the immediate implementation of the Basic Agreement until the next elections.

"I had a call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed. Thank you for supporting the UAE throughout the years.

I emphasized that the first step towards de-escalation is the immediate end of violence against security institutions and the immediate implementation of the Basic Agreement until the next elections", he wrote.

The European Union has requested the holding of new elections in the north of the country to reduce tensions there, in addition to two other demands, the participation of Serbs in the elections and the start of work on the establishment of the Association.

These demands were revealed by the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, after the meeting they had in Moldova together with President Osmani, the Serbian President as well as the German Chancellor Scholz and the French President Macron, who were engaged after the situation in the North.

Kurti emphasized that international pressure should be applied to Serbia, which does not distance itself from Milosevic's crimes, and not to Kosovo.

"Everything is going towards normalization and this could be done even faster if it were not for the obstructions of Belgrade.

"For normalization to take place, the address where the pressure should be applied is not Prishtina, which is the capital of the most democratic state and the most professional police in the Balkans, but Belgrade, which does not distance itself from Milosevic's crimes," Kurti said.

Meanwhile, the following day, the special emissary of the EU, Miroslav Lajçak, and that of the USA, Gabriel Escobar, will stay in Kosovo and Serbia on Monday and Tuesday.

This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, who said that Escobar and Lajcak will conduct this visit to de-escalate tensions in the North.

"I can confirm that the EU special representative, Miroslav Lajcak, will go to Pristina and Belgrade on Monday and Tuesday, together with the US envoy, Gabriel Escobar, to follow the calls of the highest level of to the EU for the de-escalation of tensions in the north of Kosovo", he said.
