Lista Serbe said that it condemns the "insinuations and false accusations" against this political entity regarding the burning of the bar of Zveçan's vice president, Natasha Tomanić.
On March 8, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accused "criminal elements", while the deputy mayor of Zveçan, Natasha Tomanić, accused Lista Serbe - the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo, which has the support of Belgrade - for burning down the bar owned by hers.
Tomaniq is the deputy mayor of the municipality of Zveçan, which operates according to the Kosovo system.
Lista Serbe cast doubt on the motive for the fire in the bar owned by Tomanić, saying that there are warnings that an even bigger bar will be built in that place "with people from the south" and with money from Pristina, "without permission, and who knows for what purpose and for this the Serbian List is politically blamed".
"Interesting how Natasha Tomaniq, like her boss, Albin Kurti, know the cause of the fire before any investigation is carried out and the results from the professional services come out," Lista Serbe said through a reaction on March 9.
The Kosovo Police has confirmed for Radio Free Europe that it is investigating the case of the burning of the bar, which happened in the early hours of March 8, stressing that there are doubts that the arson was intentional.
Tomaniq stated for REL that he suspects that the motive for the arson is that she has helped Serbs in the north of Kosovo to be employed in Kosovo's institutions.
She emphasized that her activities "do not fit" with the Serbian List.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accused "criminal elements" in Zveçan for this event.
"This seems to be their 'congratulation' for March 8 to vice-president Tomanić and to all Serbs who want integration in Kosovo, liberation from the criminal structures that threaten and independence from the official Belgrade that blackmails them," Kurti wrote on the Facebook social network.
This was not the first time that the personal properties of members of the Serbian community, in the municipalities in the north inhabited by a Serbian majority, were set on fire.
In 2023, dozens of cars were burned, after their owners had converted their license plates from Serbian to RKS - Republic of Kosovo.
Due to the car license plate issue, the members of the Serbian community, at the initiative of the Serbian List - the main party of the Serbs in Kosovo - left the institutions of Kosovo in November 2022.
Meanwhile, after the April 2023 elections, Albanian mayors were elected in the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo. Most of the vice-mayors in these municipalities are from the Serbian community. /REL
