The president of Ksova, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that she has decided not to appoint Blerim Isufajn as chief prosecutor of the state with the argument that the process had many legal violations.
"My responsibility for guaranteeing the constitutional functioning of the institutions obliges me not to sit idly by such a process that seriously violates the fundamental principles and values of our constitution, as well as produces concrete injustice and discrimination.
Therefore, as I mentioned at the beginning, today I have notified the KPK regarding this evaluation of the procedure, which, taking into account all the violations mentioned, obliges me not to decree the proposed candidate for chief prosecutor, according to the proposal of KPK, dated April 8, 2022.
She stated that she received threats for its decree.
"In a democratic country, those who think they can make decisions by threatening the head of state should be out of the system. They are illegal pressures, thinking that by threatening the head of state they will get signatures. And they will not take, I am independent from any other influence. There were other pressures, people sending messages that if you don't decree it or sign it, we will file a case, we will file indictments, we will tie your hands. But they should know that in the more than 2 decades that I have been in politics, the pressures have never worked", Osmani added.
In the end, she chose not to give names, as according to her, the election of the chief prosecutor is now important.
