The Minister of the Interior of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, proposed today in Parliament that the "Civil Defense" and "Northern Brigade" groups be declared terrorist groups.
The latter operate in the northern part of the country, inhabited by a Serbian majority.
According to the minister, these groups have been identified in areas where there are tensions by the security and intelligence institutions and it turns out that they have committed terrorist acts.
"These two groups pose a threat to the Republic of Kosovo", he emphasizes.
Sveçla further added that the activities of these groups are completely criminal, they seriously violate the constitutional order and through blackmail they hinder the cooperation of the government with the Serbian citizens in Kosovo.
It is learned that the Minister for Communities and Returns has asked not to rush into making decisions, stressing that a more diplomatic approach is needed. However, after discussions, the government of Kosovo has declared the two aforementioned groups 'terrorist organizations'.
