The Socialist Party of France has requested the suspension of the contract for the sale of "Rafala" aircraft to Serbia.
The Socialist Party of France has reacted to the signing of the agreement between France and Serbia for the purchase of "Rafale" airplanes.
They regret the complete lack of parliamentary consultations, saying that Serbia "is not only in alliance with Russia, but is leading a systematic policy of destabilization in the Western Balkans."
On the occasion of the visit of the French president, Emmanuel Macron, who signed a contract of about three billion euros with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, for the delivery of 12 fighter planes of the latest generation, the Socialist Party called on the president of France to deliver to Parliament the contract of this sale and suspend it while the parameters of the use of the Rafales and their democratic control have not been registered, guaranteed and monitored in advance by the defense agreement, writes N1.
The French Socialists recall the events in Banjska for which, as they say in a statement, those responsible were not punished in Serbia, the recognition of the parliamentary and local elections of December, which according to the report of the international observers of the ODIHR were stolen, the rejection of the Serbian authorities to recognize the content of the resolution on the recognition of the genocide in Srebrenica and encouraging denial, events that promote the myth of "Greater Serbia", such as the "All-Serbian Assembly"; the systematic alignment with the Hungarian political position that refuses to implement the European policy of sanctions against Russia and, as noted, the refusal to "conduct an investigation on the hundreds of corpses found near the military airport of Batajnica, where the Rafales are supposed to land".
In this context, the Socialist Party not only, as they say, does not understand the justification of France, which confirms that this treaty will unite Serbia with Europe, but also expresses its solidarity with the concerns expressed by democratic forces and civil society in region.
"On the other hand, the Socialist Party fears that at the national level this agreement will put an end to any claim that has been made since 2019 for the return of France's influence in the Balkans, and at the European level it discredits the prospects for European integration and discourages more further reforms and democratic forces in Serbia under the autocratic rule of President Aleksandar Vučić", the reaction reads further.
The largest French newspaper, Le Monde, had earlier reported that the French president has never spoken about the incitement of unrest in Kosovo by his Serbian counterpart.
