The Newborn Monument in Pristina was once again transformed into a space of public reaction.
After erecting metal fences and the inscription "Kosovo in Prison", activists installed 5,000 magnetic KLA emblems and conveyed a message against the Special Court.
The representative of the "Freedom has a Name" initiative, Ismail Tasholli, stated that the activity aims to address the way in which, according to the organizers, the KLA war and its role in state formation are interpreted.
He said that through the symbolism placed on the monument, the idea of a political "imprisonment" is presented, which according to him is also reflected in the treatment of Kosovo in the judicial processes in The Hague.
According to the organizers, the installation represents the connection between the history of the war and current political and institutional developments.
They emphasized that the symbolism of surrounding the monument represents the state in which, according to them, the country is in due to the processes in the Specialized Chambers.
Eliza Hoxha, involved in the realization of the activity, explained that this year's artistic intervention is related to the 18th anniversary of the declaration of Kosovo's independence.
She emphasized that Newborn usually conveys messages related to the state's journey and reflection on the future, while this time it focused on the current situation of former KLA leaders who are facing trials in The Hague.
According to her, they represent not only individuals, but also state institutions, as they have held key positions and were part of the declaration of independence.
The activity took place a few hours before the start of the march with the motto "Justice, not politics".
