The Minister of Defense of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, once the chairman of the Serbian Progressive Party, through a post on his account on "Instagram", has proposed a "four-point plan", which, according to him, would contribute to calming the situation in the northern part of Kosovo inhabited by ethnic Serbs.
"There should be talks about illegal arrests. There should be talks about the withdrawal of special units. There should be talks on the establishment of the Association of (majority) Serbian Municipalities and we should talk about the participation of Serbs in local elections", says Vučevič.
"In my opinion, these are the four points that should be the basis for solving this situation, if we really want to move in the direction of expansion", said Vučevič, among other things, while blaming the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, for, as he said, "danger to the security of Serbia".
But even Prime Minister Albin Kurti has presented a plan consisting of a total of five points, which he presented to QUINT's partner countries (the United States of America, Germany, France, Italy and Great Britain) for reducing tensions in the north and the return to dialogue.
The rule of law in the northern municipalities of Kosovo inhabited by a majority of Serbs, the withdrawal of the "fascist militia" there, the performance of joint security assessments by the Kosovo Police, KFOR and EULEX, the announcement of early local elections and the return in the dialogue are the points proposed by Prime Minister Kurti.
Meanwhile, calming the situation in the north of Kosovo, holding new local elections there and returning to the dialogue for the normalization of relations are the common demands of the organized international community for de-escalation, but these have not yet been fulfilled by either party.
Even the emissary of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, has given details about the meetings with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic.
Lajçak stated that the de-escalation of the situation, the new elections in the north of Kosovo, and the return to the Ohrid Agreement, are the three demands of the European Union which were presented to Kurt and Vucic on June 22 in Brussels.
After this meeting, the EU emissary traveled to the United States of America.
During his visit to the USA, he said that he met high-ranking American officials and presented them with all the details of the latest developments in the north of Kosovo.
The US has said that it has immediately returned to Brussels to assist High Representative Josep Borrell in convening crisis management meetings with President Vucic and Prime Minister Kurti.
In the end, he emphasized that the aim of the EU was to find a way out of the situation in the north of Kosovo, which, as he says, continues to be very tense.
