
Three Kosovo Police officials have been declared wanted for arrest by Russia.
The same have also been entered into the search system by INTERPOL. It is about the heads of the elite units of the Kosovo Police.
The arrest warrant against them is said to be due to the arrest of a Russian citizen in the north of Kosovo in May 2019.
One of those declared wanted by Russia is Captain Besart Ahmeti, head of the Special Operative Unit of the Kosovo Police. The head of the elite unit of the Kosovo Police, 'FIT', Alban Jetullahu, as well as a another official of the Kosovo Police.
On May 31, 2019, the Kosovo Police, during an action in the north of Mitrovica, arrested 19 members of the police who were suspicious, 10 citizens who were suspects, 9 other citizens who hindered the police officers in carrying out of duty as well as 1 UNMIK official, with Russian citizenship.
According to the announcement issued by the police at that time, it was said that the police plan had begun to be implemented as planned in all regions in which they mostly passed without incident, excluding the region of Zubin Potok, where the place called "Klisure". The police said that unknown persons have placed obstacles on the road such as trees, kindling fire and heavy vehicles, heavy trucks and others.
The arrest warrant against them comes after the events of September 24 last year in Banjska and as a response to the international arrest warrant issued by INTERPOL for Milan Radojčič and several other participants in the terrorist attack in Banjska, but also his participation in all actions of the Police for establishing law and order in the north of Kosovo.
Russia is known for arrest warrants against many personalities who oppose Vladimir Putin's regime. More than 100,000 people are on Russia's secret wanted list.
Russian prosecutors have so far issued arrest warrants for hundreds of foreigners, including Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and US Senator Lindsey Graham, senior human rights officials and even the spokesman for social media company Meta.
Those arrest warrants include foreign fighters supporting Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression, officials at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Ukrainian officials and lawmakers in the Baltic states who voted to remove Soviet World War II memorials.
