The US "pulls the ear" of Kosovo: The decision to remove the Serbian

After Kosovo's decision not to allow payments with the Serbian dinar in its territory, the reaction of the US ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, has come.

According to him, this was an unexpected and unnecessary decision, and the US and the EU are monitoring the development of the situation.

"We think that the most important thing at the moment is the formation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority, but also that Kosovo be given the opportunity to join international institutions. We need to focus and avoid topics that are not of common interest," said Ambassador Hill.

The decision was taken on January 17 by the Central Bank of Kosovo, which approved the regulation according to which the only currency allowed for cash transactions in Kosovo is the euro.

In areas with a Serbian majority in Kosovo, the Serbian dinar has been used both for making payments and for employees working in Serbian institutions in Kosovo, who receive their salaries in dinars.

The new Central Bank regulation specifies that non-euro currencies can only be used to be stored "in physical form or in bank accounts" and can be used to make international payments.
