The NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, has announced that the Turkish Reserve Operational Force has arrived in Kosovo to begin a temporary deployment.
Through a post on the social network "Facebook", KFOR announced that the Turkish unit has taken over responsibilities from the Multinational Battalion of the Reserve Operational Force within the framework of the rotation plan supervised by the NATO Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy.
The announcement states that over the coming months this battalion will carry out activities alongside other KFOR units, ready to react to any development in the security situation.
“ The Turkish Operational Reserve Force (ORF) arrived in Kosovo to begin a temporary deployment in support of the NATO-led KFOR mission. The Turkish unit has taken over responsibilities from the ORF Multinational Battalion according to a rotation plan overseen by NATO’s Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy.
In the coming months, the Turkish ORF Battalion will carry out a series of activities together with other KFOR units, ready to respond to any developments in the security situation. Such reinforcements increase KFOR's operational flexibility and readiness to respond to evolving security developments.
"KFOR continues to implement its mandate - based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 - to contribute to a secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and in an impartial manner. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders ," NATO said in a statement.
