The emissary of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, has stated that the situation in the north of Kosovo remains fragile.
Through a post on social networks, Borrell has stated that this is happening despite the fact that there are clear steps to reduce tensions between the two countries.
"I spent the last two days in Brussels, where together with my team we worked closely with our international partners to coordinate our next steps in addressing the ongoing crisis in northern Kosovo. Unfortunately, despite the existence of clear steps to successfully reduce tensions, the situation remains fragile", wrote Lajçak.

I spent the last two days in Brussels, where my team and I worked closely with our international partners to coordinate our next steps in addressing the ongoing crisis in northern Kosovo. Unfortunately, despite the existence of clear steps for the successful de-escalation of tensions, the situation remains fragile.
Happy for the interest of the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, who invited me together with the General Director of DG-NEAR Gert Jan Koopman for a joint discussion about the situation, the latest developments in the Dialogue and our efforts to reduced ground tensions in the north of Kosovo.
I have spent the last few days in Brussels, where my team and I have been working closely with our international partners to coordinate our next steps to resolve the crisis in northern Kosovo. Unfortunately, despite the existence of clear steps to successfully defuse the tension, the situation remains serious. I am pleased with the interest of the members of the External Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, who invited me and the Director General of DG-NEAR Gert Jan Koopman to a joint discussion about the situation, the latest developments in the Dialogue and our efforts to reduce tensions in the north of Kosovo.
Meanwhile, we recall that the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, called the punitive measures of the European Union "unfair" on Sunday and said that he hopes they will be short, since "Kosovo is a country that needs support in the development of her".
A spokesperson for the European Union has said that the punitive measures were communicated to the Government of Kosovo on June 28, as a result of the EU assessment that Kosovo has not taken the required steps to reduce tensions in the north.
