The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, spoke after the meetings he had in Brussels with high-ranking European officials where the basic agreement between Kosovo and Serbia was discussed. Vucic said that Serbia cannot accept Kosovo's membership in the United Nations (UN).
"During the talks in Brussels we talked about all topics and agreements, I clearly said that Serbia cannot accept Kosovo's membership in the UN or Kosovo's independence, but that we are ready to fulfill what was agreed, the letter of October 21 it is a good basis for continuing discussions in the future" , said Vucic in Brussels.
He said that he is ready to form the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority with the proposals received from the EU.
"We are fully ready for the formation of the Association in accordance with the proposals we received, for the letter of October 21 we said that we are ready to accept and go into implementation", stated Vučič .
Meanwhile, the Government of Kosovo says that the president of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic, has had requests that undo the basic agreement.
The President of Serbia, Vucic, has refused to sign an agreement with Kosovo, and has requested that a side letter be accepted , which practically nullifies three principles of the Basic Agreement, the Implementation Annex and the draft proposed by five emissaries on October 21, 2023 ", it is stated in the announcement of the Government.
