Kurti-Vucic meeting on September 14, analysts: Neither side is giving positive

Connoisseurs of political developments are not optimistic about the September 14 meeting in Brussels between Prime Minister Kurti and President Aleksandar Vucic. They remember that there is still no sign of elections in the north, while Serbia has continued with tense actions.

The arrest and detention of Nikola Radomirovic in Raška by the Serbian authorities and the failure to find a solution for the elections in the north with the participation of the Serbs, according to those familiar with political developments, are indications that the September 14 meeting in Brussels will be difficult.

Artan Muhaxhiri says that the Kurti-Vucic meeting is being held in the middle of a negative status-quo regarding the north.

The EU, he says, has failed to convince Kosovo for the resignation of the presidents and Serbia for the unconditional participation of the northern Serbs in the elections.

" So we have a negative status quo that only makes the whole situation even more tense and prevents the positive development of the dialogue, despite the fact that there have been demands from the international community that the process of new elections be facilitated as much as possible through resignations and by offering guarantees from the Government for quick elections as well as guarantees from Serbia for the participation of Serbs, this has not yet happened, but I hope it will happen at the meeting on September 14 because without these guarantee, without Kosovo's guarantees for a technical, quick and easy process, and on the other hand, without Serbia's guarantee for the participation of Serbs, there will be no logic to think about new elections, therefore the blockade will continue", said Muhaxhiri .

Political scientist Albinot Maloku says that in the next meeting it is necessary to highlight the fact that Serbia has continued with destructive actions, such as the arming of the north and the arrest of Nikola Radomirovic.

"I consider that the current atmosphere is the most unpromising atmosphere for the success of a meeting which is the most important to hold, especially given the circumstances that have existed especially in the north of the country and then also with the measures of the European union. In this regard, I consider that the European Union should, after this date, take concrete steps, especially in relation to Kosovo, which are related to the measures, but also to their possibility (of sanctions against Serbia) if Serbia is not progressing towards implementation of the agreement and previous agreements, then the European Union should have a position regarding this approach ", said Maloku.

The government has been criticized by the international factor for lack of coordination in some decisions.

The one at the end of May for the placement of the new mayors of North Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zubin-Potoku and Zveçani in municipal facilities, accompanied by the police, has resulted in the imposition of punitive measures against Kosovo by the European Union./KohaTv
