Albin Kurti: Some of the Serbs who boycotted the elections in northern Kosovo

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has expressed growing concerns about Russia's continued involvement in the increased tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, especially in the northern municipalities of Kosovo. He mentioned the threats received by the terrorists regarding the seizure of a large amount of weapons and ammunition in the north of the country by the Kosovo Police.

In an interview for the Estonian media company "Delfi", the head of the Kosovo government also spoke about the evidence that "some of the Serbs who boycotted the elections were connected to the Wagner group, and some of them were even members of the group".

Kurti said that shortly before the interview for this media, he had received a "letter with threatening content from terrorist groups" regarding the seizure of a significant amount of weapons and ammunition in the north of the country by the Kosovo Police.

Kurti stated that the terrorists mocked the seized weapons, claiming that they were "only a small part of their inventory".

"Yesterday we confiscated a large amount of ammunition and Kalashnikovs from a house in a municipality with a Serbian majority in the north of Kosovo. "Just before coming to the interview, I received another threatening letter from the terrorists, mockingly saying that the weapons we had seized were only a small part of their equipment," said Kurti.

Asked if he thinks that Russia is involved in the tense situation in Kosovo, Kurti said that there is "evidence that some of the Serbs who boycotted the elections were connected to the Wagner group, and some of them were even members of the group".

Kurti also said that members of the Wagner group and the Night Wolves, a Russian motorcycle club known for its close ties to the Kremlin, had entered Kosovo from Serbia last December.

According to him, these persons had established close ties with terrorist organizations operating in the region.

"We have evidence that some of the Serbs who boycotted the elections were connected to the Wagner group, and some of them were even members of the group. Several members of Wagner and the Night Wolves (a rabid Russian motorcycle club backed by the Kremlin - ed.) came to Kosovo from Serbia last December and have close ties to the two terrorist organizations. And a terrorist organization is sending death threats to me and my interior minister," he declared.

Furthermore, Kurti spoke about the joint military exercises between Russia and Serbia and the Russian Gazprom as two factors that show the close ties between Serbia and Russia.

He also mentioned the Russian and Serbian votes "against the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine" as proof of the closeness between these countries.

"Military cooperation between Russia and Serbia has increased in recent years. Slavic Brotherhood and Slavic Shield (joint military exercises between Russia and Serbia - ed.) are particularly worth mentioning, as well as Belgrade's close ties with Russia's Gazprom. In the sessions of the UN General Assembly on Ukraine, Serbia together with Russia have voted against the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine. In addition, Serbia intercepts Russian anti-Putin oppositionists, for example they extradited Vladimir Kara-Murza (Russian opposition politician - ed.) to Moscow" , concluded the Prime Minister of Kosovo.
