The Foreign Minister of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said on Thursday that the statement of the British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, during a visit to Pristina that Great Britain will help Kosovo to get new recognition, is "extremely hypocritical" and " deserves the harshest punishment".
"He did not say a word about Albin Kurti [Prime Minister of Kosovo] and the so-called Kosovo refusing to implement the Brussels Agreement for 11 years, which, among other things, was signed and guaranteed on behalf of the European Union by the British Catherine Ashton," Dacic said on January 4 to the Serbian news agency, Tanjug.
He added that Serbia "will continue to be a constructive factor in the dialogue", but that it has the right to "protect its national and state interests and its territorial integrity".
"I would invite Cameron, when he returns to London, to step outside his office and look at the mural showing Britain with the Allies after the First World War, where Serbia and Belgium appear as little girls hanging from Britain's skirts as their protector. It's time, colleague Cameron, to remove that mural, which is history, or to think about your statements", said Dacic.
On Thursday in Pristina, Cameron emphasized that Great Britain will help Kosovo in its aspirations, mentioning here the process of new recognitions.
"We are great supporters of independence, sovereignty and the right of Kosovo to be recognized by others as a complete, sovereign country and member of the family of nations", he underlined.
During his stay in Kosovo, Cameron also met with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, as well as with Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Cameron said that, last year, there were 600 British troops in the KFOR mission. Great Britain also trains members of the Kosovo Security Force./REL
