The CEC of Kosovo has announced that 791,123 voters, or 39.07%, went to the ballot boxes today to determine the fate of their municipalities for the next four years in the cities of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Kreshnik Radoniqi, at the 7:30 pm conference, said that this is information from 95% of polling stations.
"Based on the preliminary data we have received from about 95% of the Polling Stations, the number of citizens with the right to vote who have voted by 7:00 PM is 791,123 voters or 39.07%, out of 2 million 25 thousand 105 voters ," he said.
He said that ballot counting has currently begun in many polling stations.
" The voting process ended at 19:00. From communications and reports from the field, we assess that the electoral process was conducted peacefully and in accordance with legal requirements. No incidents were identified that could compromise the integrity, credibility or progress of the process ," he said.
" This is a key step in the conclusion of election day and is taking place according to the procedures set out by law and the regulations of the Central Election Commission. The counting process will take place in two stages: initially, the votes for the candidates in the elections for Mayors will be counted, while after the completion of this phase, the counting of votes for the political entities that competed in the elections for Municipal Assemblies will continue ," he said.
Radonić called on all members of the Polling Station Councils to act responsibly, professionally and impartially, strictly respecting all legal procedures and electoral rules, so that the will of the citizens is fully guaranteed and protected.
" The Central Election Commission informs that from 19:00 the 48-hour deadline for submitting complaints to the Electoral Panel for Complaints and Submissions, regarding today's voting process, has begun ," he said.
