The murder of Liridona Murseli, a 30-year-old from Kosovo, has shocked public opinion, bringing numerous reactions from the public and officials.
Among many others, the Swedish Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonas Westerlund, also reacted to the event, who stated that the Swedish state is working closely with the Kosovo authorities to clarify this case.
"We are working continuously on this case together with the local authorities of Kosovo. This is a very sensitive case and there is a lot of mystery surrounding this crime, I can't say more, we are working together with the authorities. But I also want to emphasize that we have debated a lot in the last few days about violence against women and in the campaign," he said.
Westerlund stressed that violence against women and girls is a "phenomenon" present in Kosovo, where numerous reports reflect an increase in femicide.
"I want to underline that the violence must stop, there are more than 2000 cases reported by the police for violence against women. Over 2000 cases is too many. We have 6 cases against femicide and 20 in Europe, where 3 cases are during 2022, so enough is enough", declared the Swedish ambassador.
