Prime Minister Albin Kurti has requested that the European Union also sanction the director of the Security and Information Agency of Serbia, Aleksandër Vulin, after the USA.
Through a post on Twitter, he said that the international community should follow the decision of the USA and sanction Vulinti, addressing the EU.
" The case of Aleksandar Vulini shows that the poisonous mixture of autocracy and corruption endangers not only democracy and the rule of law, but also peace and security in the six states of the Western Balkans and beyond, " wrote Kurti.
Kurti has attached a call from the Group of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament to the EU to "follow the example" of the USA.
On July 11, the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the US Department of the Treasury placed the director of the Security and Information Agency of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, on the sanctions list.
According to the Treasury Department, Vulin has been involved in corrupt affairs to "advance his political agendas and personal interests at the expense of peace and stability in the Western Balkans."
