Famous singer Ricky Martin has spoken out about his battle with mental health issues. Ricky Martin chose to share the shocking news with fans during a concert in Madrid.
He was performing at his first and only concert in Spain as part of the Starlite Festival. After singing some of his hits, the singer said:
"It's been a bit of a difficult week for me and I want to share it with you," he said, as he confessed to his anxiety problems, saying that music and fans help him.
"I have experienced many episodes of anxiety and it has not been easy, but the most important thing for me is that you know that music is my medicine, your applause, your smiles, that I feed on your energy to be here again and again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for so many years that we have spent together, holding hands."
His confession comes just a few days before his 54th birthday on December 24.
He assured the audience that things were getting better. “There are a lot of ups and downs, I am getting back up with a lot of strength and partly thanks to you.”
Apparently things were so difficult for him that he even considered not doing the concert. "I could have stayed home, but I couldn't do this to Madrid."
The fans responded with applause and cheers, making it clear that they will always be by his side.
