Acclaimed actress Billie Lourd remembered her late mother Carrie Fisher on Monday, almost eight years after the Star Wars actress' death at age 60. The deceased passed away at the end of 2016.
So, Billie has accepted her mother's battle with drug addiction. All this was done via a statement on her personal Instagram account, accompanied by a photo from a birthday party for Fisher.
"My mother died when she was 60 years old. 60 is too young to die. I did everything in my power to help my mom get sober, but unfortunately my mom was never able to escape her drug addiction.”
Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the George Lucas anthology, died on December 27, 2016 at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, four days after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles.
Medical examiners found cocaine, ecstasy and heroin in Fisher's body at the time she died.
