The scandal of sexual harassment expands even more, where another Hollywood actor has recently been included "on the list". At least 16 women have accused magician David Copperfield of sexual harassment, according to an investigation by The Guardian.
More than half of them were only 15 years old when they were molested by the known magician, although he may not have known their age, the publication said. Three of the women complain that 67-year-old Copperfield drugged them before having sex with them so they could not give their consent. On the other hand, Copperfield's lawyers respond that the accusations against him "are not only completely false, but also completely impossible".
The incidents took place from the 1980s to 2014. The women had met him through their work, when Copperfield was one of the world's most popular entertainers. According to the investigation, Copperfield promised to help the women in their modeling or acting careers and tried to keep in touch with them, as he did with their parents.
One of the 16 women, Brittney Lewis, also spoke publicly in 2018 about how he drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1988 when she was a 17-year-old model. Another of the women who spoke to the Guardian said that after a drink in 1993, he drugged her and a friend and had sex with them without their consent. Four women allege that Copperfield groped or forced them to touch them sexually during his stage performances. In 2007, Copperfield was accused of sexual assault against former beauty queen Lacey Caroll, but the case was dismissed and the woman no longer pursued the legal battle. Indeed, Caroll has been accused of prostitution and of wrongfully accusing a person of sexual violence.
