The final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 concluded with the triumph of Austria through singer JJ and the song "Wasted Love". However, the second place occupied by Israel with representative Yuval Raphael, has caused waves of harsh reactions on social networks.
Despite calls for a boycott and protests that accompanied his participation, Raphael – a soldier who survived the Hamas attack on the Nova festival in 2023 – managed to climb high in the rankings, sparking suspicion and anger among viewers.
Accusations against the organizers and the Israeli state itself erupted on social media, with comments such as: "What program did Israel use to hack the vote?", "Eurovision was only saved thanks to Austria," and "Shame on a representative of a nation that starts a war to ascend the podium."
There were no shortage of incidents during the competition: the Israeli representative was booed during the semi-final, while on the opening night there were strong protests with Palestinian flags and banners against the genocide.
Despite everything, Raphael performed until the end, but the noise he left behind seems to continue to haunt this edition of Eurovision for a long time.
