A 27-year-old man was arrested by the police after hitting Bebe Rexhan in the face with a phone during her concert in New York City.
The singer was performing at The Rooftop at Pier 17 when the incident occurred, falling to her knees in pain.
A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department confirmed to The Mirror that Nicolas Malvagna has been arrested and charged with assault.
"On Sunday, June 18, 2023 at around 2200 hours, the police were notified of an attack that occurred at Pier 17. From preliminary investigations at the scene, it was determined that a 27-year-old man intentionally threw his cell phone at a 33-year-old performer on stage, hitting him in the face. The individual was arrested at the scene and taken to the First Police Station for arrest processing. The artist was taken to an area hospital in stable condition," a statement said.
The incident was caught on camera and shared on Twitter by another concertgoer. In the clip, fans were seen alerting security to the man who dropped the phone. He was then pulled out of the crowd, while Bebe Rexha was helped by members of the backstage team.
In a tweet, Pop Base said the singer "had to get three stitches" after being hit in the head by her phone. Her fans took to social media to wish her a speedy recovery, with one person writing on Twitter: "Poor girl, the person should go to jail for this." Another said: "Why do you do this to Bebe Rexha?" while a third person simply added: "Embarrassing".
