A report in Bild has sparked much discussion in Germany, alleging that 70-year-old billionaire and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt is having an affair with a 27-year-old model, who is also the daughter of the Bavarian prime minister. Gloria-Sophie Burkhard, who lives and works on her doctorate in New York, was seen with Schmidt at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
"Who is the woman who appeared alongside tech billionaire Eric Schmidt and is now captivating all of America?" Bild wrote.

A source close to the former Google CEO told the New York Post that, while Burkhardt was indeed part of Schmidt's Davos entourage, "it's just a friendship, not a relationship." "Gloria-Sophie, who is the daughter of Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder, is much more than a friend of the former Google CEO," Bild insisted, adding that she has "an impressive background as an economist, model and author."
The German newspaper noted that Burkhardt divides her time between New York, Los Angeles and Germany, having completed her studies in business administration and economics and subsequently earned a master's degree in business administration.
Regarding her modeling career, the 27-year-old has appeared in Vogue Turkey, while in December 2022 she revealed in an article in Teen Vogue that she had "experienced sexual harassment, rape, and sexual coercion in her personal and professional life."
As she wrote at the time, “she was ‘inappropriately touched by her supervisor’ while working as an 18-year-old intern. According to her description, the supervisor “put his hands on my shoulders and waist when we met in the elevator or in the kitchen.”

Schmidt, who stepped down as Google CEO in 2011, has been married to Wendy Schmidt for more than four decades and is worth an estimated $54.6 billion. He has reportedly described his marriage as "open" and has had several extramarital affairs, including a long-term relationship with businesswoman Michelle Ritter, which ended with her filing a series of lawsuits against him, alleging misconduct and financial irregularities.
