Kate, Princess of Wales, said on Friday that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer, following follow-up tests following abdominal surgery in January.
The 42-year-old wife of the heir to the throne, Prince William, was hospitalized for two weeks in January. Her office announced at the time that the intervention for a non-cancerous disease was successful, but did not provide details about the disease.
However, in a video message, Princess Kate said subsequent tests had revealed cancerous cells, but she said she was fine and improving.
"My medical team advised me to undergo preventive chemotherapy treatment and I am now in the early stages of this treatment," the Princess told Kate in the video, which was recorded on Wednesday.
