Those who own cats know well how much these animals love their independence, but the story coming from Guadalajara, Mexico, seems to take this trait to a whole other level.
It's about a white and gray cat who, for seven years, has led a double life, sharing time, cuddles, and food between two families who knew nothing about each other.
The story begins in 2013, when Rosalinda Ortiz adopts the cat and names her Mayo. From the beginning, she exhibits typical behavior of a very independent cat, often leaving the house and being absent for hours, sometimes up to 48 hours. However, she always returned for food and cuddles.
The truth was discovered quite by chance in 2020, when Rosalinda saw her cat near a bar in the neighborhood. When she called it by its name Mayo, it reacted immediately, but the business owners were surprised and explained that the cat had lived with them for years and that they knew it by its name Pancho.
In this way, the "double life" of the cat was discovered, which had managed to create two homes, two identities, and two sources of food without anyone realizing it.
Her story quickly went viral on social media, sparking a lot of humor and reactions. It has been seen as a strange and entertaining example of the nature of cats, which often choose more than one place to live and, in this case, more than one family to cuddle with.
