Ferrari has unveiled its fully electric supercar for the first time, and one of the first people to have the chance to test it up close was the Pope at the Vatican.
The new model, called the "Luce," was unveiled during a special meeting between Ferrari executives and the Head of the Catholic Church. The vehicle was presented under a red cover, before the Pope approached for a closer look and sat in the driver's seat.
Ferrari chairman John Elkann and other executives of the Italian company accompanied the presentation, while Ferrari test driver Raffaele De Simone explained to the Pope the control systems and driving modes of the electric supercar.

Footage from the Vatican showed the Pope holding the wheel of the Ferrari and smiling alongside the Italian brand's engineers and technical staff.
The Luce is considered a milestone for Ferrari, as it is the company's first fully electric model. According to the Italian manufacturer, the vehicle is powered by four electric motors, one at each wheel, producing up to 1,050 horsepower.

The supercar can travel up to 530 kilometers on a single charge, while reaching speeds from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.5 seconds.
The model was created in collaboration with "LoveFrom", the creative agency founded by legendary former Apple designer Jony Ive.

Ferrari is expected to launch the "Luce" on the market with a price tag of around 550,000 euros, marking a major step for the iconic Italian brand towards the electric future of luxury motoring.
