In his interview, lawyer Ngjela touched on several different topics, from political ones to his personal life.
As a good connoisseur of politics and a former prisoner, how do you comment on the arrest of Ilir Meta?
It has nothing to do with the previous regime. Democratic regime. Then it was a political strike, not an ordinary strike. The police are not opposed, because the law says 'if you oppose them, they will use violence'. We don't know now whether Meta objected or not. If he objected, they would create some violent pressure, because the law requires it.
In your opinion, will there be more arrests and who is next?
You will ask me: 'Who do you think will be released this week?', because I don't talk about arrests at all, because I'm a lawyer. Don't take politics too seriously.
How would you describe Albanian politics in one word?
Low level.
A woman's name that would transform Albanian politics, if she had more power.
Margaret Thatcher. If we have a Margaret Thatcher of course that stops non-development and creates development in Albania. But it hasn't come yet.
76 years of life, what is your biggest pledge?
The hostage was why I didn't make an assassination attempt against the dictator. But I thought about it too late (laughs). I thought about it after I was arrested.
Are you afraid of loneliness?
No. On the contrary, loneliness is with the expression of the great Latins: 'O solitude, oe the only happiness', the great people said.
Why did you never get married?
This has been my philosophy. It was in the philosophy of the 70s, they did not accept marriage. If you got married, you will think that divorce will destroy.
How many times have you been in love?
It could be 2. What does it matter?! Then you have to understand one thing, I'm not into static love. A man makes love even to a table, without touching it at all. I said this and I don't want to go on too long because people will get bored.
Do you regret not becoming a father?
It occurred to me, but a child without marriage is worthless.
