Celebrity chef and eccentric Turkish influencer Nusret Gökçe, popularly known as Salt Bae, has built a huge reputation thanks to his provocative social media posts, where he shows off his culinary skills and wealth.
In 2017, he gained worldwide attention after performing some theatrical moves with salt. His video went viral, and within months, he had become a global phenomenon. He opened luxury restaurants in major cities around the world.
A steak cost up to $2,000. Celebrities, athletes, even politicians, just wanted a photo with him. But the staff accused him of abuse and of keeping tips. Instead of reacting transparently, he fired everyone, silently. The image began to fade. In 2022, after the World Cup final, he went on the field and interrupted the players' celebration by interfering in their moment. Even Messi was surprised. The public called him intemperate.
A little later, he was not allowed into a party after the Champions League final. He had no invitation and security kicked him out. Today, restaurants that were once packed can barely fill a few tables.
