Did he die or was he killed? Michael Jackson's bodyguard: I think someone

The "King of Pop", Michael Jackson, would have celebrated his 66th birthday today (August 29). But he tragically passed away on June 25, 2009, shocking the whole world.

The last bodyguard of the legendary singer, Bill Whitfield, has told in an interview for "The Sun" his last moments and what tormented him so much before he died.

Bill became Jackson's bodyguard in December 2006, not long after he was cleared of shocking allegations of child sexual abuse. He said he had read stories about the case and had taken the job unsure in his mind whether the allegations might be true.

“Like everyone, I heard all the stories before working on it, so it would be normal for me to go into the situation wondering. Being so up close and personal with someone, if this situation were true, it would be revealed.

I paid a lot of attention to him, his surroundings and how he interacted with his children and other people. I never wanted to believe these things, but I definitely looked into it, paid more attention to it, because I didn't know it until I started working for it", said Bill at the beginning.

He described Michael as a very good friend and that after some time working with him, he no longer believed these accusations.

"You had to be near him to know him and I was there. So, no, Michael wasn't like that. And so it still surprises me when I hear things like that.

I'm sorry he didn't live long enough to tell his side of the story so people can better understand who he was. He would never hurt a child. This was not the man I knew.

He once said he would cut his wrist before hurting a child. So I know those accusations were damaging to him. I can tell it changed him," added Bill.

After rising to stardom as a child, Jackson spent four decades at the center of the world stage, racking up 500 million record sales in the process. But he became embroiled in controversy when in 1993 he was accused of sexually abusing a child. This case was settled out of civil court.

However, in 2005, Jackson was tried on further damaging charges of child sexual abuse. The FBI failed to find any evidence of criminal conduct and he was released.

“Before he did the 'This Is It' tour, a lot had changed. There were more people in his life and that made him wilder. I could see he was a little weaker than normal, he was rehearsing a lot. I can tell that it was weighing on him."

Asked if someone deliberately killed Michael, Bill replied: “I think someone made a mistake. The thought that he died at someone's hands on purpose does not bother me.

I have often been asked what I think killed him. And I've told people, pretty much everything. And it includes many of us. There were so many people who not only wanted to be near him, but there were so many people who wanted something from him. And that can be overwhelming. He was definitely stressed. And stress kills

I like to think that he didn't just pass away, he left. He left this country, this world, for a better country."
