An unusual situation has arisen regarding the Albanian U21 national team's roster for the June friendly matches. Coach Alban Bushi has included midfielder Blerton Isufi among the names collected, although the footballer himself has announced that he has not accepted to play for Albania.
Isufi, 20, who recently moved to Norwegian club Molde for a reported fee of 600,000 euros, was considered one of the newcomers to the red and black U21 team. However, in an interview with "Telegrafi", he clarified that contacts with the Albanian Football Federation have not resulted in an agreement to join Albania.
" Yes, it is true that they have contacted me several times, but I have not given a positive answer. They have also contacted my father. I am a Kosovo footballer and I will continue to play only for my homeland. I will never play for any other national team except Kosovo ," Isufi said.
The footballer also revealed that he had a direct conversation with coach Alban Bushi, who expressed appreciation for his qualities on the field.
" Coach Bushi contacted me directly, telling me that he likes me as a player. Anyway, I thank him, but I will remain part of Kosovo ," he declared.
Isufi emphasized that his absence from this Kosovo training camp is related to his commitments in the Norwegian championship, which continues normal activity during this period.
" I talked to coach Hekuran Kryeziu. He knows my situation at the club and everything that has happened with Albania. He has faith in me and I have faith in him. I will not be in this group due to commitments with the club, as the Norwegian championship does not stop, but I will always be part of Kosovo ," concluded Isufi.
