FIFA and its president, Gianni Infantino, have strong reasons for optimism as the final months count down to the start of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
The world football governing body has confirmed that over 500 million ticket requests have been registered so far, a record figure that shows the extraordinary interest in this edition of the World Cup. The FIFA President did not hide his enthusiasm, reacting on social networks.
" Breaking news! Incredible, 500 million requests for tickets for the 2026 World Cup. Thank you everyone !" Infantino wrote in an Instagram post.
Apart from the host countries, the biggest demand for tickets comes from Germany, England and Brazil. After widespread criticism over high prices, FIFA announced that some tickets will be offered at a price of $60, which will be available through national football federations.
According to official data, the match that has generated the greatest interest in the final stage of ticket sales is the one between Colombia and Portugal, scheduled to be played on June 27 in Miami.
FIFA announced that ticket applicants will be notified no earlier than February 5, when a draw will be held to distribute tickets for the matches with the highest demand.
Albania could also become part of the final phase of the 2026 World Cup, with the Rossoneri competing in the "play-off" phase. On March 26, our team will play against Poland in Warsaw, while if the Poles advance, they will face the winner of the Ukraine - Sweden match.
