Catalan derby under tight security, Espanyol on alert for Joan Garcia's

The Espanyol club has left behind the difficult years and in this edition is emerging again as a serious contender for the European zones, restoring the enthusiasm of the fans and the strong rivalry in Catalonia. Precisely for this reason, the derby against Barcelona is expected to have a different weight and a different tension compared to the last seasons.

On January 3, Barcelona will travel to Espanyol's stadium for a match that has historically been fiery and often filled with strong emotions. The host club has officially described the match as high-risk, due to the fierce rivalry between the two teams and the atmosphere that is expected to be created in the stands.

For this reason, Espanyol's management have decided to take extra security measures, with a particular focus on a Barcelona name: Joan Garcia. The goalkeeper was part of Espanyol until last season, but his decision to leave and join his eternal rivals, after paying his €25 million release clause, has caused great anger among the white and blue fans.

Garcia's return to the stadium where he was once an idol is expected to be accompanied by harsh reactions, as part of the fans consider him a traitor. To avoid any possible incident, Espanyol has foreseen an increase in the number of stewards, especially in the stairwells and areas near the pitch, with the aim of controlling any unpleasant situations that may arise during the match.

The Catalan derby is thus expected not only as an important duel for the standings and European objectives, but also as a test of confidence, on an evening where tension and emotion promise to be at their maximum.
