The Espanyol club has left behind the difficult years and in this edition is emerging again as a serious contender for the European zones, restoring the enthusiasm of the fans and the strong rivalry in Catalonia. The goalkeeper was part of Espanyol until last season, but his decision to leave and join his eternal rivals, after paying his €25 million release clause, has caused great anger among the white and blue fans.
Garcia's return to the stadium where he was once an idol is expected to be accompanied by harsh reactions, as part of the fans consider him a traitor. To avoid any possible incident, Espanyol has foreseen an increase in the number of stewards, especially in the stairwells and areas near the pitch, with the aim of controlling any unpleasant situations that may arise during the match.
The Catalan derby is thus expected not only as an important duel for the standings and European objectives, but also as a test of confidence, on an evening where tension and emotion promise to be at their maximum.
