UEFA has completed its disciplinary proceedings against Alvaro Morata and Rodri. The two Spanish players were heard shouting " Gibraltar is Spain " during the European Championship celebration in Madrid, thus bringing the modest country's reaction.
Europe's top football body showed zero tolerance after complaints from Gibraltar, suspending Morata and Rodri for one game each.
The pair will thus take it easy, as they will only be missing in the League of Nations challenge against Serbia on September 5, where Spain will naturally seek victory.
In the official decision, it is justified as follows: " Everything has come down to non-implementation of the general principles of behavior and the use of sports events for manifestations of a non-sporting nature ".
In fact, a more severe punishment was expected, bearing in mind the fact that UEFA has often been harsh in cases where sport is mixed with politics. Spain won the European Championship, in the big final in Berlin, against England.
