And one incident in particular has come to light in recent days in the match between Libya and Cape Verde, prompting the opening of a full-scale investigation into the incident.
The Libyan Football Federation suspects that its national team goalkeeper, Murad Al-Uhishi, made a deliberate mistake to favor the opposing team in the match that ended in a 3-3 draw.
Libya was leading 3-1 when an unprovoked shot from midfield went to the goalkeeper, who let the ball slip through his hands, pass between his legs and then stop in the net.
The footage has made the rounds on the internet and this has prompted the Libyan Football Federation to open an investigation into the 28-year-old, who cannot be said to be inexperienced, as this was his 21st match with the national team.
