Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka will face the Londoners this weekend. The Sunderland player answered questions from journalists at the press conference.
" We know the quality Arsenal have. It will be an exciting game for me - I spent seven wonderful years there. I still have contact with a lot of the players, with the coaching staff.
Playing against them here in Sunderland is, of course, very special. I hope I enjoy it too and let's see who is the better team on the day.
"Nobody thought before the season that we would be where we are, but for me it's not surprising, because we work hard ."
Former Liverpool defender and renowned Sky Sports pundit Jimmy Carragher has hailed Xhaka as the most important signing of the summer transfer window.
" For me, he could be the most impressive signing of the season. You just have to look at the numbers and the impact he has on the team. If we mention Manchester City, we can say that it is Haaland's team. I can't find another player in the Premier League who has a bigger impact than Xhaka on his team. A truly brilliant signing ," said Carragher.
Granit Xhaka joined Sunderland in the summer. In his first 10 games, he scored a goal and provided several assists, becoming one of the mainstays of the team.
