Just over two weeks and England could make a historic decision in the world of football. On June 6, Premier League clubs will meet to vote on whether to keep VAR or scrap it for next season. "BBC" made the announcement and then listed the reasons that could lead the English top league to a real step backwards in terms of the use of technology.
Leading the "anti-VAR" crusade is Wolverhampton who have lodged a complaint with the League to bring about a vote on the matter. The club admits the technology was introduced "in good faith" but has led to "numerous unintended negative consequences which are damaging the relationship between fans and football".
The Premier League's answer
On the other hand, the Premier League has made it known that it "recognizes the concerns" regarding VAR, but at the same time it "fully supports" the technology and continues to work with referees to make improvements and reduce errors.
