Antoine Griezmann has announced his retirement from international football.
The Frenchman of Atletico Madrid published a video on social networks announcing his decision.
"Today, with deep regret, I announce my withdrawal from the French national team. After 10 incredible years marked by challenges, successes and unforgettable moments, it is time for me to close this chapter and make way for the new generation. Wearing this jersey was an honor and a privilege. From March 2014 until last September, I had the opportunity to experience incredible moments alongside incredible teammates. We shared victories that will remain forever etched in our memories," he declared.
Griezmann's last game for France was in the semi-finals of Euro 2024, where Deschamps' side suffered a disappointing defeat to eventual winners Spain.
The 33-year-old spent a decade playing for Les Bleus, making his debut in March 2014, making 137 appearances for the national team and scoring 44 goals. The pinnacle of his international career came at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where France were crowned world champions for the first time since 1998.
