Tomas Strakosha is not having a good moment in this part of his career, as the Albanian national team goalkeeper has lost his starting place in the ranks of the AEK Athens team, to the detriment of the Italian Alberto Brinjoli.
But a week before the Albanian national team gathers for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches, the troubles for the red and black goalkeeper increase, as he has been left out of the team by coach Matias Almejda.
Greek media reports that "physical concerns" have prevented him from traveling with the team for the complicated match against Aris Thessaloniki, thus being a spectator for the match in question.
We recall that Strakosha has been an undisputed starter in the ranks of the Albanian National Team, since the moment when coach Silvinjo decided to change the hierarchy by removing Etrit Berisha from the lineup to trust the 29-year-old.
Berisha's "rest" this season, as well as Strakosha's fluctuating activation with the Greek club, means that there is already a big problem regarding the red and black foursome. Only Elhan Kastrati has played regularly this season in Serie B with Çitadela, but it should be noted that he is also coming off an injury that left him out of the field for a month.
