Lamine Yamal: I love the 'Ball of Gold', anyone who says otherwise is lying

Lamine Yamal, the 18-year-old winger for FC Barcelona and Spain, has set his sights on the Ballon d'Or, saying he would be thrilled to win it at such a young age.

"Together, winning the Champions League with Barca would be incredible, and individually, every player wants to win the Ballon d'Or, anyone who says otherwise is lying," said Yamal from the Spanish national team camp.

The winger added that "being there at the age of 18 is something to be proud of and hopefully it happens."

Yamal is among the 30 candidates for the 2025 Ballon d'Or, with a possible competition against PSG's Ousmane Dembele.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for September 22 at the Chatelet Theater in Paris.

Barcelona also have Pedro, Lewandowski and Raphinha nominated.
