The Champions League semi-final second leg between Bayern Munich and PSG has been generating tension even before the official kick-off. The match scheduled for May 6 at the Allianz Arena is expected to be open and spectacular, following PSG's 5-4 victory in the first leg, a result that leaves everything at stake for qualification.
However, the clash between the two teams is not only taking place on the pitch. A logistical issue has become a psychological battle between the clubs. PSG had planned to stay at the “Infinity Hotel” in Munich, the same hotel where they were accommodated a year ago, on the eve of the Champions League final that they convincingly won 5-0 against Inter. For the Parisian managers and players, this choice was also linked to a sense of superstition, as the hotel is considered “lucky”.
But this request was met with strong opposition from Bayern. The Infinity Hotel traditionally serves as the German team's home base due to its proximity to the stadium. Coach Vincent Kompany and the Bavarian club's management refused to vacate the premises.
" It's our city. We're staying here. We're not leaving our hotel ," was reportedly the stance of the German camp, turning the situation into a duel of nerves ahead of the decisive challenge.
As a result, PSG was forced to revise plans and will be accommodated at the "Andaz Hotel", a logistically convenient alternative, but which does not carry the same symbolism for the French team.
In the Parisian camp, memories of the previous stay at the “Infinity Hotel” remain fresh, as they are associated with one of the greatest successes in the club’s history. Coach Luis Enrique and the team had previously expressed their satisfaction with the conditions and environment offered by that hotel.
