The Argentine Football Federation has today made public the extensive preliminary list of players assembled by coach Lionel Scaloni for the 2026 World Cup. The list contains 55 names, including well-known stars and less prominent talents, with the aim of defending the title won in Qatar four years ago.
The list is dominated by the core of the 2022 world champions. Lionel Messi (Inter Miami), Lautaro Martínez (Inter), Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa), Rodrigo De Paul (Inter Miami), Julián Álvarez (Atlético Madrid) and many others are included again, giving continuity to Scaloni's project.
Among the well-known names, some interesting innovations and returns also stand out: Franco Mastantuono (Real Madrid), one of the most promising talents of the new Argentine generation.
Gianluca Prestiani (Benfica), the much-discussed player who became the protagonist of an episode of racism towards Vinicius Junior. Atlético Madrid's strong colony: Nahuel Molina, Juan Musso, Julián Álvarez, Nicolás González, Giuliano Simeone.
Representatives of major European clubs such as Lisandro Martínez (Manchester United), Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool), Enzo Fernández (Chelsea), Exequiel Palacios and Ezequiel Fernández (Bayer Leverkusen).
The list also includes goalkeepers like Gerónimo Rulli (Olympique Marseille) and Walter Benítez (Crystal Palace), as well as experienced defenders like Nicolás Otamendi (Benfica) and Marcos Senesi (Bournemouth).
