Albania is leaving behind a very successful year, where of course qualifying for the first time in the "World Cup Play Offs" is one of the greatest successes that Albania has ever achieved.
The year 2025 did not start in the best possible way, since Albania was coming off a failure in the Nations League and in fact, looking at the performances that were made at that time and linking it to the draw that Albania had, such a success was not expected with much optimism. But, the Rossoneri managed to realize half of the big dream that we all have, since in March we will try to play in the World Cup for the first time, but to do this we must win 2 matches that are certainly the 2 most important matches in history.
From England to England Albania started its journey with a very difficult transfer to England, where at Wembley it needed a miracle to aim for qualification. But, being clear who we were facing, not much could be expected and in fact England won the match although not without suffering. The Reds played a very good match in England despite being defeated. In the second match, the Reds did what they had to do by winning against Andorra at home with a score of 3-0. And in fact, England was the only team that beat us in these qualifiers and they did something similar a few months ago, in the last qualifying match but that was of little value to either team because the objectives had been achieved and that challenge turned into a luxury friendly. Thus, England gave us luck in the first match to secure second place in the group and to help us even more, the “3 Lions” won the match in London against Serbia, which with the combination of Albania’s victory in Andorra, mathematically brought us qualification as second place in the group, an achievement that Albania has always dreamed of and has only come close to without ever achieving before. Of course, the Rossoneri had a difficult journey, with history and failures but in the end, the match in Tirana was a celebration.
Victory in Serbia Albania played in June against Serbia in Tirana and a missed penalty by Rei Manaj was commented on at length and it was thought for many months that it would be the moment that would remain a hostage in everyone's memories. But, Rei Manaj knew how to do well, he knew how to change history and in October he did something like that precisely in the Albanian Leskovci, the land that has inspired the red and black for centuries. In the last seconds of the first half, Manaj makes a beautiful shot from outside the area, to take the ball into the net and giving Albania a historic victory, great and of course with a lot of value for the very objective that the red and blacks had. The 3-pointer, detached our team in first place and if until that day, qualification did not depend on us, Manaj's goal changed the history of the qualifiers and made Albania decide its own fate. The following minutes were all about Albania and every minute that passed brought our team closer to history and so, on October 11, Albania won its first victory in history against Serbia on the green field, having achieved a previous victory in 2014, when Ballist Morina managed to fly a drone over the stadium.
Qualifying for the first time The victory in Serbia paved the way for Albania to seriously aim for second place and the Rossoneri knew well that to do so, they definitely needed to win in Andorra. And in fact, that's what happened. The goal scored by Kristjan Asllani in that challenge qualified Albania, while Serbia, on the other hand, was losing in London to England, making it easier for our team because another result in London would leave everything open for the last match, where Serbia would host Latvia and we would face England. Our victory in Andorra brought us to 14 points and for the first time in history, we managed to qualify for the World Cup "Play Off". A few weeks ago, the draw for this phase was made, where the goals placed Albania against Poland and the fact that we are in the third pot allows Poland to be the host while the final was drawn. Albania faces the winner of the Ukraine-Sweden pair and again, the red and blacks will face each other on the road. Thus, if Sweden manages to win, the final will be played in Sweden, while Ukraine has chosen to play its matches in Spain.
Rekordet Shqipëria pati një vit fantastik dhe pësoi vetëm 2 humbje, aty ku kuqezinjtë u mundën vetëm nga Anglia në ndeshjen e parë në mars dhe në ndeshjen e fundit në nëntor. Në këtë periudhë mes marsit dhe dhjetorit, kuqezinjtë ishin thuajse perfektë dhe nuk humbën asnjë ndeshje tjetër. Rezultati më zhgënjyes, natyrisht ishte barazimi 1-1 që Shqipëria mori në Letoni, aty ku duke parë nivelin e kundërshtarit, pritej një fitore nga skuadra jonë Kombëtare. Por, pas asaj ndeshjeje Shqipëria nuk po pësonte më gola dhe arriti të merrte edhe barazim me Serbinë. Kjo sfidë me serbët, u pasua më vonë nga 5 fitore radhazi nga skuadra jonë kuqezi. Fitorja e parë në këtë ecuri rekord për Shqipërinë, erdhi në datën 4 shtator në një miqësore me Gjibraltarin, ku skuadra jonë vuajti, nuk bindi por fitoi me rezultatin e ngushtë 0-1. Pak ditë më parë, kuqezinjtë luajtën në Tiranë me Letoninë dhe sërish fituan me rezultatin 1-0, në një ndeshje pa shkëlqim dhe ku në fakt, vendosi një penallti pasi loja nuk ishte shumë bindëse. Te Kombëtarja dukeshin të kënaqur dhe pas ndeshjeve, shpreheshin se në këtë moment, rëndësi kishin pikët dhe loja e bukur e në fakt, diçka e tillë rezultoi të ishte e rëndësishme. Fitorja me Letoninë u pasua një muaj më vonë nga fitorja në Serbi me rezultatin 0-1, ku për skuadrën tonë ishte ndoshta ndeshja më e mirë që kishte bërë në kualifikuese. Fitoren e katërt radhazi, Shqipëria e mori në miqësore ndaj Jordanisë, aty ku shënoi 4 herë por pësoi 2 gola, ndërkohë që fitorja e pestë radhazi dhe natyrisht shumë e rëndësishme erdhi në nëntor, ku Shqipëria fitoi ndaj Andorrës me rezultatin 0-1. Asnjëherë më parë Shqipëria nuk kishte arritur që të fitonte 5 ndeshje radhazi dhe natyrisht kjo ishte një tjetër arritje në vitin 2025 për kuqezinjtë.
Hysaj kalon Canën Elseid Hysaj e kishte vitin 2025 një ndër vitet më të veçanta në aspektin personal për sa i përket Kombëtares. Mbrojtësi shkodran u bë këtë vit futbollisti me më shumë ndeshje për Shqipërinë, duke thyer rekordin absolut që Lorik Cana mbante prej vitesh. Në ndeshjen me Serbinë, ku Shqipëria fitoi 0-1, Hysaj luajti ndeshjet e tij numër 93, duke arritur kështu rekordin e ishkapitenit kuqezi, ndërkohë që vetëm pak ditë më vonë e theu këtë rekord. Në ndeshjen me Jordaninë në Tiranë, Hysaj luajti ndeshjen e 94-ët, e cila ishte edhe zyrtarisht ndeshja që vuri rekordin e ri ndërkohë që vetëm pak javë më vonë, e thelloi këtë rekord pasi luajti edhe me Andorrën në transfertë dhe pak minuta me Anglinë në shtëpi para se të dëmtohej. Kështu, Hysaj e mbylli vitin 2025 në kuotën e 96 ndeshjeve, duke qenë absolutisht futbollisti me numrin më të lartë të ndeshjeve që ka zhvilluar me fanellën kuqezi. Ndryshe nga Cana që ka luajtur vetëm në një Europian, Hysaj ishte pjesë e Shqipërisë edhe në Europianin e vitit të shkuar, si edhe pjesë e historisë për kualifikimin në “Play Off”. Megjithëse te Lacio nuk po kalon momentin më të mirë, te Kombëtarja ka pasur ecuri fantastike dhe ka ditur të bëjë mirë e të jetë protagonist sa herë që i është kërkuar, duke kontribuuar jo pak.
Renditja e FIFA-s Fitoret që Shqipëria arriti të merrte në kualifikueset e Botërorit, u pasqyruan edhe në renditjen e FIFA-s, aty ku kuqezinjtë u ngjitën disa herë në klasifikim. Kështu, Shqipëria në muajin mars humbi një vend në klasifikim dhe e shihte veten në vendin e 66 të klasifikimit të përgjithshëm të FIFA-s, teksa kjo zbritje u pasua edhe në muajt në vazhdim, ku ndikuan barazimi me Letoninë dhe ai me Serbinë. Në korrik, Shqipëria humbi 2 pozicione të tjera dhe e shihte veten në vendin e 68- të dhe dukej se makthi nuk po merrte fund. Por, në shtator Shqipëria rikuperoi 2 vende dhe u rikthye sërish në vendin e 66-të të klasifikimit të përgjithshëm. Në muajin tetor, kuqezinjtë ishin për rekord duke rikuperuar plot 5 vende dhe për herë të parë për këtë vit, u rendit në vendin e 61 të klasifikimit të përgjithshëm. Humbja me Anglinë ndikoi për klasifikimin e fundit dhe Shqipëria humbi dy pozicione të tjera dhe e mbylli vitin në vendin e 63-të të klasifikimit të përgjithshëm të FIFA-s. Rekordin absolut për klasifikimin në FIFA, Shqipëria e ka në vitin 2015, kur për herë të parë në histori, Shqipëria e shihte veten të renditur në vendin e 36, si kurrë më parë ndonjëherë.
Debuts Silvinjo has often shown that he does not have much faith in young players and remains loyal to the players who have contributed the most to Albania. Silvinjo's Renewal The contract of the national team coach, Silvinjo, was due to expire in December. However, the qualification for the World Cup "Play Off" caused the contract of the national team coach to be extended. Thus, the parties have reached an agreement to renew the contract, making it valid until the end of the month, March, when the last two matches of this historic journey will be played. If Albania manages to qualify, then the contract of the Brazilian coach will be automatically renewed for the rest of the World Cup and only after its completion will his future be finally decided. If Albania's journey ends in March, Silvinjo's contract will also expire, but this does not mean that the coach will be officially dismissed. Most likely, the parties will sit down again to discuss the future and the desire of both parties seems to be to continue the cooperation even further, where Albania will have the great opportunity to try again for the European Championship and perhaps even to write new history.
Ticket prices One of the negative things about 2025 for Albanian fans, of course, was the ticket prices for the World Cup qualifiers. In addition to the fact that it was very difficult to find tickets and that most of them were being sold on the black market, another problem was the high prices set by the Federation itself. Thus, many fans were left without tickets not only because they could not find them, but also because of the high cost to the fans' pockets as the prices were relatively high, especially for important matches or even for England at the end./Panorama Sport
