The 2026 World Cup will kick off on June 11 and will be hosted for the first time in three countries: the United States, Canada and Mexico. The spotlight is expected to be on two icons of world football, Lionel Messi (38) and Cristiano Ronaldo (41), for whom this tournament is expected to be their last World Cup with their national teams.
Neymar could also be included in the same line, although his presence at the World Cup is not yet certain. The final decision is expected to be made by coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The Brazilian striker, now 34, is in the process of recovering physically and aims to return to optimal form. He returned to the spotlight during the 2026 Copa Sudamericana, after Santos' draw with San Lorenzo.
After the match, Neymar openly expressed his desire to be part of the World Cup:
" Yes, of course I think about the World Cup. Every Brazilian footballer wants to be there and I hope I can participate ," he told TyC Sports.
He also commented on the possibility of a confrontation with Lionel Messi:
" A final between Argentina and Brazil would be spectacular ," Neymar added.
